Liverpool begin their Champions League title defence against familiar foe Napoli in what is expected to be a cracking affair in Naples.
The sides also met last season in the group stage with each bagging 1-0 wins in their respective home grounds. This will however be a whole new affair at the Stadio San Paolo as Napoli will be welcoming the champions of Europe.
The Serie A runners-up will be fired up for this match following a routine 2-0 league victory over Sampdoria with Dries Mertens bagging a brace.
The Reds will also be in good spirits after maintaining their 100% start to the Premier League campaign cruising over Newcastle United 3-1 at Anfield.
Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti will be buoyed by the return of skipper Lorenzo Insigne following a muscle injury as he made an impressive late cameo. He will also be looking to former Tottenham forward Fernando Llorente and summer signing Hirving Lozano to break Liverpool’s invincibility.
For Liverpool, their only concern is Divock Origi who was withdrawn in the first half of their match with Jurgen Klopp expected to call up youngster Rhian Brewster to the matchday squad. The effervescent trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will be relishing this fixture as they look to further their combined tally of 12 goals after only 5 games.
